The fate of our country hangs in the balance with the November 2010 election.
If the Dems win we are in trouble.
If McCain like Republicans win we are trouble too.
Wait a minute you are telling me that that if Republicans win we are just as screwed.
We are facing some very hard choices.
These choices go beyond what is on the surface.
Since 1962 God, family, and education have come under attack.
First, we took prayer out of school.
Once prayer was kicked out of school the family and education began to fall apart.
This may seem very simplistic but it isn’t.
The Bible is very clear what happens to a nation when it turns its back on God.
God has truly blessed this country.
Since the United States was formed in 1776, we have been the guiding light that has shown around the world.
Who invented the first automobile?
Who discovered the flight?
Who discovered the cure for small pox?
Who discovered the cure for malaria?
The list is endless.
Who saved Europe from Nazi domination?
Who stopped the Japanese from conquering Asia and the South Pacific?
Who stopped Communism dead in its tracks?
This all happened because the United States had the blessing of God.
We should have had our collective Asses kicked by the British in 1776 yet a rag tag army led by George Washington beat the best army in the world at that time Britain.
If this is not God then who is it?
I think not.
Read what John Adams wrote-The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”
• “[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” –October 11, 1798
“I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world. It contains more philosophy than all the libraries I have seen.” December 25, 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson
“Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell.” [John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817] |
This goes deeper than religion. Remember we are in a war with an enemy that wants to destroy us.
Many will think this enemy is terrorists.
This is a part of the truth but not the whole truth
The enemy from within that tells us the Bible is old fashioned. It is passé. Jesus is not hip, slick, and cool. We have a new way of doing things.
It is time to cast the Bible aside. It is no longer relevant.
The Bible no longer has meaning in modern society.
So, lets look at the Ten Commandments.
Exodus 20: 1-17 1 And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
8 “ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
12 “ Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Let’s look at these Commandments.
Which one of these is old fashioned and out dated?
Thou shall not murder?
Thou shall not commit adultery?
Thou shall not steal?
Take your pick.
There is a very simple explanation.
We as a nation have broken just about all of these commandments.
No wonder we are having the problems we are having.
Let me leave you with a few words from Thomas Jefferson.
I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus.”
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital) [Source: Merrill .
